THE MAIL
Mr.RobertDawson receives the box in the mail, with no return address. A plan brown box wrapped in even browner tape, his address handwritten on the front of the box in an unfamiliar writing; scribbled in magic marker, almost childishly. He takes the box from the front doorstep and brings it inside. Then the man was distracted by an urgent phone call. So he forgets all about the box. Soon, it was late afternoon, and soon enough his wife and children came home. So it was early evening, stars started blooming into the sky. As soon as he gets the chance to take a look at the box. His wife Ms.Alita Dawson and children Lira and Joseph were in living room watching TV, the children gathered the carpet probably in the center - causing proximity to the television, meanwhile his wife was sitting on sofa. The box was placed in the corner of the kitchen. Mr.Dawson was standing there in the kitchen and was staring at the box. "What are you looking at?" Alita says from behind. "Nothing “he says, “Just a random package".....”How bizarre!”
There is something unusual about this package, with its childish, almost illegible script written on the front: his name and his address. Rectangular, dull brown box, about ten inches by eight inches by sixteen inches.”What could be inside it? A bomb? A boring stack of paperwork? An old antique sent by a distant relative? Why don't you just open it?” He rubs his forehead in a distress.”Who did send things without any return address?” He hears the sound of crackle and fizz of the TV from living room.
At low manual rates! He reaches his hands towards the box.” Anything could be inside it really, Why don't you just open it?”Says the inner mind. But to open the box, he knows, would collapse all the waveforms of curiosity. Anything could be inside it. Once he opens it, he will know that what was there in the box, and knowing this there will not be anything left to know. “Whatever is inside could be awful or boring or wonderful. A bomb, a dead fish, a parcel of grapefruit sent from Florida.... A single flower. A handful of slugs, a mysterious letter, a deed to a haunted house... Really it could be anything. U should just open it and rejoin the family. What is keeping you away to open the box?” Alita left saying this ... Robert thought that somewhere in the city , he thinks , madmen dancing on the rooftops... somewhere lovers kiss....men walk down cursed alleyways...travelers groan at traffic jams...friends reunite, doomed moments happen, perhaps someone else might open the another strange box at the same moment? Or maybe not. Robert wonders all this and rubs his forehead... He kept staring at the box, wondering what to do.....
At that night he was not able to sleep. He was awake for long time. He was not able to stop thinking about the box. He was having race of thoughts in his mind. He was awake till 4:00am. Suddenly the alarm rang and he was jerked... It was 7:00 am he had to rush off to the work as he was late. His wife made breakfast for all of them and everyone got busy in their specific work. But, Robert was not able to concentrate in his work. At evening he came back from work and again started thinking about that box. He wanted to know the mystery behind the box also he wanted the mystery to be unsolved...
At the end he made the decision that he will open the box only on his birthday which is after 14days. So he hides the box in his cupboard... And planned the dinner with his family. Lira and Joseph were excited to go for the dinner. After coming back from the dinner Lira and Joseph went to sleep, Alita asked about the box, Robert told her about his decision and Alita was happy after knowing this. And they both too went to sleep. Days passed as usual and the day came. 21st May, Robert's birthday he was curious to know what was there in that mysterious box. Finally, he was ready to open the box , His heart beated fast and he finally opened the box. He found "A beautiful red Ruby and a handwritten letter. In that Letter
It was written that this Ruby belongs to his grandfather Mr.David Dawson. When he was 5 year old the Dawson Family shifted to London.
As they had loss in their business, due to the loss Mr.David Dawson had trauma attack and he died. Therefore the father of Robert Mr. Michel Dawson decided to shift to London and continue their business in London. Then his grandfather gave a box which was gifted him by his bestest friend on his 50th birthday. Mr.David wanted this gift to be the treasure of the family, he decided to pass on this box from generation to generation because the Ruby was antique but before Mr. Michel share all this with Robert Mr. Michel died in an accident. And the secret of box went with him. As the Ruby was antique he hided this box in an old cupboard of their house after the death of Mr. Michel Robert had very hard time and lots of struggle. With his struggle and hard work he made himself capable to earn. He started his family business again and was successful. At that time he decided to go back to Paris and he sold his old house. And buyed the new one and was living happily with his family. So the box was gifted by the D'Souza family whom the Robert had sold his old house . One day Ms. D'Souza was cleaning the store room there she found this box she tried to figure out that to whom this box exactly belongs to. She found a letter in it about that beautiful box. She was a good lady by heart therefore she decided to give back that to the person it belongs. After searching the address of Dawson family she parceled the box to them. After reading the Letter Robert felt so happy and he decided to continue the ritual of passing the box from generation to generation.... And they cutted the cake and had dinner with his family...
